Jackfruit is the worlds’ largest tree fruit and can reach weights of up to 140/lbs., of course the ones we carry are not quite that large. As the fruit ripens the exterior turns yellow and brown, develops a fragrant smell and yields to the touch. Jackfruit tastes of mango, melon and banana, this versatile fruit can be frozen for smoothies and shakes later, if you have leftovers.
Be sure to let the fruit ripen before you attempt to prepare it.
Handle your jackfruit with gloves and make sure to oil your knife and place a cover on the surface you are preparing the fruit on, be sure to refrigerate your fruit once cut.
